The best climbing spots are located just 15 minutes from our apartments, including renowned crags like Kompanj, Pandora, Buzetski Kanjon, Istarske Toplice, and the scenic Vela Draga.

Istria is a year-round climbing destination, with conditions that are perfect for outdoor adventures in every season. Whether it's the mild spring and autumn weather or the chilly winter days, you can enjoy climbing in the sunshine at Kompanj, one of the region's most beloved crags. Buzetski Kanjon is an all-year-round climbing site that holds many secrets, waiting to be discovered. During the colder months, you can bask in the sun as you climb, while in the summer, you'll be captivated by the seven waterfalls along the Mirna River. This area also features several hidden climbing oases, ideal for the whole family to explore.

When you're closely pressed against the rock, you'll forget about everything else in life, immersing yourself fully in the experience. Above you, the sky will be clear and vast, and below, you'll find yourself surrounded by Istria's untouched natural beauty.

"Seven Waterfalls Trail" the most beautiful trail in Istria

The Seven Waterfalls Trail will reveal the mystical beauty of Istria, where its lush greenery and rich vegetation will leave you breathless. This scenic trail is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and the everyday stresses we all face.

The trail is at its most beautiful in spring and autumn, when the landscape is alive with color and the waterfalls are flowing in full force. In the summer months, some parts of the trail may dry up, meaning you won't be able to see all the waterfalls and streams, while in winter, the trail can be slippery and dangerous due to cold temperatures and possible snow.

Therefore, spring and autumn are the ideal times to walk the trail, offering the best experience of nature in its full glory.

This circular trail begins and ends in the charming town of Buzet, located near the Istrian water supply system. Along the way, you'll pass through dense forests, beside cascading waterfalls, and across beautiful natural landscapes.

The trail is 15 km long, and it will take approximately 5 hours to complete. The difficulty level is medium, making it suitable for those in good physical condition who enjoy a rewarding day hike.

The cradle of Glagolitic

Walk along the Glagolitic Avenue

The Glagolitic Avenue is a remarkable monument and a testament to the enduring legacy of Glagolitic literacy, from the time of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius to the present day.

The Avenue features 11 monuments, each thoughtfully placed in the pristine natural surroundings along a 7-kilometre road that stretches from Roč to Hum. These monuments stand as a tribute to the historical and cultural significance of the Glagolitic script, which played a key role in the development of Slavic identity and language.

In Roč, during the summer months, the School of Glagolitics comes to life, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about this ancient script and its cultural importance.

As a symbol of Croatia’s rich cultural heritage, Croatian diplomats and politicians often give Glagolitic-themed gifts, such as a Glagolitic script and a tie, as authentic Croatian souvenirs.

Take a leisurely walk down Glagolitic Avenue, immersing yourself in the stunning blend of natural beauty and cultural history that this unique path offers.

It’s a perfect way to spend a day exploring Istria’s fascinating past while enjoying its unspoiled nature.

Istria’s Most Unusual Walk

Just 30 minutes from our apartments, you can discover one of Istria’s most unusual hidden gems – the charming Drunken Railway (Pijana pruga).

Tucked beneath the slopes of the majestic Učka Mountain, this abandoned railway winds through peaceful countryside overlooking the beautiful Čepić Field. Its playful nickname comes from the many curves and twists in the tracks, which look as if the railway itself had a fun night out.

Today, nature has slowly reclaimed the rails, creating a picturesque walking path surrounded by greenery, open views, and complete tranquility. The short and easy walk from Zagrad (about 20–30 minutes) makes it a perfect little adventure for families, photographers, and curious explorers who enjoy discovering places away from the typical tourist crowds.

Walking along the rusty tracks feels like stepping back in time. Once used to transport coal from nearby mines, the railway now offers visitors a peaceful journey through Istria’s history and landscape.

During your stay with us, this unique and slightly “tipsy” railway adventure is just around the corner—waiting to be explored.

ŽBEVNICA- a Hike with a View

If you love nature, hiking, and unforgettable views, Žbevnica (1014 m) is one of the most beautiful peaks in the western part of Ćićarija. This grassy ridge, located near the border between Croatia and Slovenia, is known as the westernmost Croatian peak higher than 1,000 meters.

From the summit, the view is spectacular – the whole of Istria lies at your feet. You can see the rolling hills of Ćićarija, the Plomin Bay, and the Gulf of Trieste. On clear days, especially when the bora wind brings crystal-clear air, you may even glimpse the distant Alps and the stunning Dolomites on the horizon.

The starting point of the trail above the village of Brest is only a 20-minute drive from our apartments. From there, a pleasant hike of about one hour leads you through meadows and along a beautiful grassy ridge to the summit.

Žbevnica is the perfect excursion for guests who want to experience peace, untouched nature, and one of the most breathtaking views in Istria.
