"Seven Waterfalls Trail" the most beautiful trail in Istria

The Seven Waterfalls Trail will reveal the mystical beauty of Istria, where its lush greenery and rich vegetation will leave you breathless. This scenic trail is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and the everyday stresses we all face.

The trail is at its most beautiful in spring and autumn, when the landscape is alive with color and the waterfalls are flowing in full force. In the summer months, some parts of the trail may dry up, meaning you won't be able to see all the waterfalls and streams, while in winter, the trail can be slippery and dangerous due to cold temperatures and possible snow.

Therefore, spring and autumn are the ideal times to walk the trail, offering the best experience of nature in its full glory.

This circular trail begins and ends in the charming town of Buzet, located near the Istrian water supply system. Along the way, you'll pass through dense forests, beside cascading waterfalls, and across beautiful natural landscapes.

The trail is 15 km long, and it will take approximately 5 hours to complete. The difficulty level is medium, making it suitable for those in good physical condition who enjoy a rewarding day hike.

The cradle of Glagolitic

Walk along the Glagolitic Avenue

The Glagolitic Avenue is a remarkable monument and a testament to the enduring legacy of Glagolitic literacy, from the time of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius to the present day.

The Avenue features 11 monuments, each thoughtfully placed in the pristine natural surroundings along a 7-kilometre road that stretches from Roč to Hum. These monuments stand as a tribute to the historical and cultural significance of the Glagolitic script, which played a key role in the development of Slavic identity and language.

In Roč, during the summer months, the School of Glagolitics comes to life, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about this ancient script and its cultural importance.

As a symbol of Croatia’s rich cultural heritage, Croatian diplomats and politicians often give Glagolitic-themed gifts, such as a Glagolitic script and a tie, as authentic Croatian souvenirs.

Take a leisurely walk down Glagolitic Avenue, immersing yourself in the stunning blend of natural beauty and cultural history that this unique path offers. It’s a perfect way to spend a day exploring Istria’s fascinating past while enjoying its unspoiled nature.
